order to further improve the lines of communication and to respond to the
concerns between the National VA Council and you our members, I have
established a National VA Council Briefing. This NVAC Briefing will bring you the
latest news and developments within DVA and provide you with the current status
of issues this Council is currently addressing. I believe that this NVAC
Briefing will greatly enhance the way in which we communicate and the way in
which we share new information, keeping you better informed.

Today, Monday, September 24, 2007, was the
first day of Contract Negotiations in
Management was in caucus from 8:30 a.m.
until 11:00 a.m. We then discussed Article 41, “Dues Withholding,” with NO resolution.
Observers today were Ms. Dee Mitchell of
Local #1061, Ms. Lula Mae Jones of Local #2297, Ms. Vera Logan, President of
Local #1203, and Ms. Viola McCloud-Beverly of Local #3943.
